Name: Gail Goldsmith
Company/Organization: Trinity Episcopal Church
Job Title: Rector (Priest)
How long have you been in Lynchburg? One month
Tell us about your professional role:
I’m the priest at Trinity Episcopal Church, a small church in Lynchburg that is a loving Christian community, working hard to serve its neighbors—come and see! Previously, I was a priest at a large church in Alabama and facilitated a college ministry for Auburn University students. After earning my MDiv at UChicago Divinity School, I served as a pediatric hospital chaplain in Wilmington, NC.
What do you enjoy in your spare time?
I enjoy cooking with my wife, weightlifting, reading historical nonfiction and fun romance novels. We have a corgi puppy and senior dog sweetheart that we love to walk in Riverside Park and Percival’s Island.
Who or what inspires you? The parishioners of Trinity! They’ve responded to a pandemic with a creativity, enthusiasm, and focus on what God is doing!
What's something about not many people know? I love a unique sport—I was my college fencing team (saber!) and am currently taking an archery class through Lynchburg’s Parks & Rec.
Why did you join YPCV? To get to know other young people in this region, and to join in a movement of people working for the flourishing of our city and life together.
